Employment Law & Industrial Relations

Bastian Hancock Stynes Lawyers’ personnel have extensive experience in the Employment Law & Industrial Relations sphere, spanning over 30 years.

Our practitioners have the length of service to have worked under various employment legislation including; the ‘old’ Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Act; Victoria’s ‘old’ employment law jurisdiction (the Employee Relations Act); the Workplace Relations Act and now, the Fair Work Act 2009.

This considerable experience gives the Employment Law Team real perspective in acting for employers and employees in matters such as, unfair dismissals and prohibited action claims, but also to advise at the ‘front end’ for employers in their best employment and/or independent contract arrangements, and/or advising employees when considering entering or exiting employment relationships.

Practice areas:

  1. Preparation of employment and consultancy (Independent Contractor) arrangements including regular updates to keep abreast of legislative changes;
  2. Managing and/or litigating harassment and discrimination actions;
  3. Advising and preparing OHS, bullying and HR policies generally;
  4. Litigating in the various jurisdictions, whether in the Tribunal or Federal Court under the Act, or common law courts in breach of contract claims.

Employment Law is an area rife with disputations and requires careful planning and consideration across the legislative spectrum, as well as common law principles.

Bastian Hancock Stynes Lawyers is well suited to assist you, and we always adopt a sensible, proactive approach with particular regard to cost considerations.
